Why Touchscreen Voting Doesn’t Work

According to this NPR story on Talk of the Nation Science Friday (audio not available until later Friday), the biggest problem with the touchscreen machines has nothing to do with tampering. It’s poor usability and screen calibration. This makes sense to anyone who has ever owned a Palm. If you use a touchscreen on Election Day, check those results before you hit submit! Better yet, just use a paper ballot. It’s simpler.
