Rhythmbox on Ubuntu

So, I’ve been trying to use Rhythmbox on Ubuntu and getting the annoying “look for a non-existent ID3 tag demuxer” problem. According to this thread on the Ubuntu Forums…Rhythmbox is basically a dying project and one should use an alternate audio player. It’s unfortunate that Rhythmbox is the default player in Gnome (even in the most recent Ubuntu release, Jaunty), but indeed the simplest solution is to switch players. I am currently running banshee:

sudo apt-get install banshee

The command line above will install it. Just remember to go to “System” > “Preferences” > “Preferred Applications” and change your default multimedia player to Banshee (under the “Multimedia” tab).
